On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump shocked everyone by firing FBI Director James Comey. Now, his temporary replacement has been revealed, and who it is may surprise you.
The Daily Caller reported that the FBI’s new acting director is Andrew McCabe, who has strong ties to Clinton ally Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe. McCabe previously served as deputy director of the FBI, meaning that after the firing of Comey, he will now be in charge of the FBI until a permanent replacement is found. It’s unclear how long he will lead the FBI, as the White House has said the search for a new director has already begun.
McCabe’s strong connections to the Democratic Party have left many conservatives feeling troubled. His friend McAuliffe’s PAC donated $467,500 to McCabe’s wife Jill McCabe’s 2015 state Senate campaign, and Virginia’s Democratic Party also spent a little over $200,000 on the campaign. At the time these donations were made, McCabe was leading the probe into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server.
“We’ve never had a thing like this in the history of this country,” Trump said when these findings were reported.
This comes as rumors are swirling that South Carolina Representative Trey Gowdy is one of the frontrunners to become the new FBI director. Gowdy gained national fame as a vocal critic of Barack Obama’s administration, and more recently he has acted as a voice of reason in the Democrat fixation on the idea of President Trump’s supposed connections to Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
It is hoped that Gowdy would be able to turn back the clock on years of questionable investigations and politicized leaks. When he was FBI director, Comey infamously refused to investigate Clinton even though the FBI’s own agents clearly determined that she and her team had broken the law and exposed valuable secrets. Gowdy has never been someone who is afraid to get his hands dirty in the name of justice.
